I thought I’d share this with all my friends again. In 2008 my friend Jackie sang the song “Coat of Many Colors” which struck me with idea to make the video. All depression era photos are from the Library of Congress and are Public Domain, and the CNN video and audio clips are used pursuant to Title 17 U.S. Code on the basis of educational value.

AMERICA IN CRISIS: MANY PROBLEMS, YES…BUT, SOME SIMPLE SOLUTIONS

June 72010

In late 2007, when this was originally made…saddly, it was ahead of its time and more saddly, raised questions that fortold today and now…
In 2009, Americans are truley more so… waiste deep in the Big Muddy of it’s worse Crisis…like 1931, those who gave us the crisis now (in 2009) reassure us if only we hold to the same course…that somehow, what they have done to destroy our economy with their looting of the public trust will…they now continue to say is in fact, be what will save us…Senator McCain recently said “we should do nothing…the economy will correct itself…and warns us that trying to solve these problems (like Obama is)…will destroy our country…” Little does a man who can not remember how many homes he owns…know or care for the family loosing their only home…as we have seen…if you listen to the new republican chatter…their loud cries of socialism..if we continue with the same republican, feed the wealthy…let them share the wealth by tipping big to the poor…policies of the past eight years…then, how can we except any different resault????
The dollar continues it’s collapse, more people are loosing their homes, major companies are going out of business, what few factories that remain are closing; good jobs have long disappeared to China or India, we are still invaded by poison toys, our broken borders remain unchecked, a world that still hates us deeply, unsecured ports, a series of never ending wars gone bad; many hundreds of thousands of innocient Iraqi people have died…unneccessarily, truley, unbelievable levels of corporate, banker, Wall Street greed/corruption, a President lost (at least Bubba Bush is gone…maybe, some light ahead in the tunnel if Obama succeeds in his plan), still a congress that’s still for sale to the highest biding lobbyist and record fraud.
With all this and more…America’s in still adrift in Sea of Crisis & Greed.
Can there…could there be any hope?
Yes, there is! The solutions are many and they are simple…that is the message that this video means to send. Yes, there is hope and simple solutions that will return America to it’s place as that Shining Becon on the Hill. America needs each of it’s children now to stand up and just say no more…say no more to corruption, say no more to injustice…to say yes to American Made…say yes to freedom…American, homegrown solutions…
Just think…we made this in late 2007 to question the candidates who never addressed the issues then…saddly, you can’t say they (or you) were not warned…maybe, we need to send them this video or each should make their own and send…to each of those in congress who wax on about the Grand Days of economic success of now, Citizen Bubba Bush or who continue to give their Wall Steet Brokers bonus of millions of dollars of the people’s money while saying we will not help the deadbeat families cast out into the streets or offer them a bailout of $12 per week…let’s see…millions to CEO’s with no strings…$12 per week with strings (that $12 is taxable income according to the IRS)…You decide..deal or no deal…I submit, we need a better deal for the people and the middle class…

Boehner Introduces the House GOP Congressional Transparency Initiative

May 302010

The American people have had it with business as usual in Congress. They are fed up with practices such as tucking special-interest provisions into bills behind closed doors, secretly changing bills without a vote, and passing bills no one has read. This has happened for far too long, but never before has the need for reform been more apparent than in the past year under Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her Democratic majority.

Americans are demanding change in the way Congress works. Recognizing this, I and other reform-minded congressional Republicans this week will put forth a new transparency initiative a series of common-sense congressional reforms aimed at bringing some much-needed openness and accountability to the House.

In just 10 months, with help from the Obama White House, Speaker Pelosis Congress has taken business-as-usual to a devastating new extreme. The American people have watched Congress rush through a massive stimulus spending bill no one read; a massive $410 billion omnibus spending bill loaded with thousands of un-scrutinized earmarks; and a new cap and trade national energy tax loaded with special-interest giveaways unveiled at 3:00 am on the morning before a vote.

Now the White House is pushing for a final year-end bill which will be written in secret by the majority behind closed doors to replace the current health care system with government-run care, and transform about one-sixth of our nations economy. The bill will be hammered out in a private, partisan House-Senate conference committee with no public access or scrutiny, in direct contradiction of President Obamas pledge that such talks would be televised on C-SPAN.

These are the actions of a Democratic majority that has forgotten its the American people who are really in charge. These are actions designed to shut the American people out while politicians go about the business of limiting their freedom. And in an era of 10.2 percent unemployment, mounting debt, seemingly endless bailouts, and rapidly expanding government, these abuses are the last straw for the American people, whove clearly had enough.

Republicans have had enough, too. The House GOP congressional transparency initiative includes common-sense changes such as read the bill reform that would require all bills to be posted online for a minimum of 72 hours before they are brought to a vote. We also believe:
•Members committee votes should be posted online within 48 hours so the American people can see how their representatives voted.
•Committees should be required to post the text of adopted bills online within 24 hours of adoption to end the practice of phantom amendments being added to bills secretly after they pass at the committee level.
•Major negotiations on sweeping bills that would dramatically expand the reach of the federal government such as the current government takeover of health care should be open to the public and subject to a full and honest debate when bills reach the floor.
•Cameras should be allowed in the secretive House Rules Committee, the panel that decides which bills and amendments come to a vote.
Our transparency initiative calls for immediate implementation of all of these reforms. Were calling on Speaker Pelosi to bring all of them to an immediate vote. If she wont do it, a Republican majority will. You can read more about the House GOP congressional transparency initiative online, at http://gopleader.gov/readthebill.

Did Republicans miss an opportunity to enact common-sense changes like these when we were in the majority? Yes — and we wont make the mistake again. With this initiative, were taking some common-sense steps to renew the drive for an open and accountable Congress. We recognize restoring the bonds of trust between the American people and their elected leaders starts with changing Congress itself. We hope Speaker Pelosi will join us, and allow these common-sense reforms to go forward.

Salt of the Earth (Part 3)

May 212010

“Salt of the Earth” was produced, written and directed by victims of the Hollywood blacklist. Unable to make films in Hollywood, they looked for worthy social issues to put on screen independently. This film never would have been made in Hollywood at the time, so it is ironic that it was the anti-communist backlash that brought about the conditions for it to be made. In many ways it was a film ahead of its time. Mainstream culture did not pick up on its civil rights and feminist themes for at least a decade.

“Salt of the Earth” tells the tale of a real life strike by Mexican-American miners. The story is set in a remote New Mexico town where the workers live in a company town, in company-owned shacks without basic plumbing. Put at risk by cost cutting bosses, the miners strike for safe working conditions. As the strike progresses, the issues at stake grow, driven by the workers’ wives. At first the wives are patronized by the traditional patriarchal culture. However, they assert themselves as equals and an integral part of the struggle, calling for improved sanitation and dignified treatment. Ultimately, when the bosses win a court order against the workers preventing them from demonstrating, gender roles reverse with the wives taking over the picket line and preventing scab workers from being brought in while the husbands stay at home and take care of house and children.

This film was selected for the National Film Registry in 1992 by the Library of Congress. It became public domain after its copyright was not renewed in 1982.

Alex Jones Tv 2/2: Commentary by Alex & Aaron on Geithner’s Staged Press Conference

May 212010

Geithner stages press conference, censors real questions

Aaron Dykes
Infowars.com
February 23, 2010

Thanks to fellow patriot David Barrow for the photo and second video. See more photos of the event here.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner made an appearance alongside IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman at the Joe Stack crash site in Austin, Texas. Their purpose was straightforward to grandstand over an attack on a government agency and to set the scene for demonizing anti-government beliefs.

The event was tightly controlled. Despite Geithners being a public figure, and setting the location along a public roadway, real media outlets were kept away on the premise that is was a private event by invitation only. This meant that only trusted network news stations were welcomed through. The Treasury Department, who ran the event, placed further restrictions on media access by setting a registration deadline:

Due to security concerns surrounding the site, media wishing to attend must RSVP to Clay Sanford at 214-914-2037 by 12:00 p.m. CST.

This message was sent only to major stations, and did not come in time for Infowars to register.

The first wave of the Infowars team showed up more than two hours early to the press conference only to be denied access and told to move to a public viewing area more than 100 yards away from the scene of action. Other Infowars reporters avoided detection and found entrance. However, Geithners appearance was destined to be little more than a glorified photo-op. Treasury Dept. handlers prepared the press crowd for the fact that only two questions would be allowed. Whats more, the fix was already in. Event gatekeepers appeared to have selected two reporters (seen in the video) to field the only questions. Phony TV reporters can be relied on to ask only softball questions.

The reason for such control is obvious Tim Geithner knows that everything he represents is hated by the general public, and that the less light shed on the bailout operation or his personal activities, the better. Though the public was told the bailout cost only $700 Billion, the real cost has now surpassed $23.7 Trillion (and beyond). Even Congress has been refused information about where that money has gone. Questions abound about what really happened on Wall Street during the financial crisis, and Secretary Geithner has been at the heart of it.

After the press waited for hours and the press time was moved back once, then again, the Treasury Secretary finally arrived. Geithner, Shulman and their entourage pulled up in a motorcade and spent perhaps five minutes looking at the damage to the Echelon building where one IRS employee was killed. Geithner nodded as parts of the burned out building were shown to him. Finally, he approached the press for a conference that would also last only minutes.

Despite a careful attempt to plan the event and maximize its political impact, Infowarriors and real journalists everywhere cannot be stopped. Geithner and Shulman had a surprise when I blurted out a real question. The real bailout cost is $23 Trillion, I started, before Geithner cut me off. Just a minute, he said, restarting on his canned statement of sympathy for the deceased.
