Let’s Give Congress a Pay Cut

April 42010

Adam challenges the GOP to join him in his pledge to accept only the national average income when elected. For more information, see the original video that this was taken from.

Adam has also pledged to submit legislation that would peg Congressional salaries to the national average as soon as he is elected. Several candidates have pledged their support as co-sponsors of such a bill.

Roachenator talks: Obama’s health care grave – death by obsession

March 262010

Obama Approval Index: -21 (matches lowest yet)
Strongly Approve 22% (matches lowest yet)
Strongly Disapprove 43%
Newly arrived Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts accused President Barack Obama and Democrats on Saturday of a “bitter, destructive and endless” drive to pass health overhaul legislation that Brown warned would be disastrous.

“An entire year has gone to waste,” Brown said in the weekly GOP radio and Internet address. “Millions of Americans have lost their jobs, and many more jobs are in danger. Even now, the president still hasn’t gotten the message.

“Somehow, the greater the public opposition to the health care bill, the more determined they seem to force it on us anyway.”

Brown himself can claim responsibility for the Democrats’ failure to pass health overhaul legislation to date. They were on the verge of doing so before Brown claimed the late Edward M. Kennedy’s Senate seat in a special election upset in January, depriving Democrats of their filibuster-proof supermajority and throwing the health care effort into limbo.

It has been gradually revived, and Democrats are now pushing for final passage before Easter under complex Senate rules that would allow them to sidestep a Republican filibuster. Republicans in the House and Senate are unanimously opposed to the sweeping legislation, which would extend coverage to some 30 million uninsured Americans with a new mandate for nearly everyone to carry insurance.

The House minority leader, Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, said in an interview for broadcast Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that if House Democrats had the votes to pass the health care bill they would have acted by now.

“They tried to do this in June and July of last year, if they had the votes then, it would be law. They tried to pass it in September, October, November, December, January, February, guess what? They don’t have the votes,” Boehner said.

Brown, as a state senator in Massachusetts, voted in favor of the universal-coverage law in that state. The bill he supported in Massachusetts has a number of features in common with the Democrats’ legislation, including a mandate for nearly everyone to be covered.

But he campaigned on a promise to be the Republicans’ crucial 41st vote against Obama’s health plan, and said Saturday that his victory amounted to a message from voters that Washington should “get its priorities right.”

“We need to drop this whole scheme of federally controlled health care, start over, and work together on real reforms at the state level that will contain costs and won’t leave America trillions of dollars deeper in debt,” Brown said.

Fox News : Swine Flu Outbreak UPDATE!

March 142010

BBC:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8016909.stm

Dozens of people have died and hundreds of others have been infected in a viral outbreak in Mexico suspected to have been caused by a strain of swine flu.

The World Health Organization thinks the virus may be behind 60 deaths in Mexico since mid-March.

Mexican authorities have closed schools in affected areas and a vaccination campaign is being launched.

Seven non-fatal cases of a new form of swine flu have also been confirmed in the southern United States.

A WHO spokesman said 12 out of 18 samples taken from the Mexican victims showed they died from a virus with the same genetic structure as the one found in the US.

The WHO would convene an emergency meeting in the “very near future” to determine whether the event constituted a “public health event of international concern”, Gregory Hartl told Reuters news agency.

The White House said it was following the US outbreak – in California and Texas – closely.

‘Mutated from pigs’

WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib said “unusual end-of-season influenza activity” was noticed in Mexico starting from the end of March.

Fifty-seven people had died in Mexico City from flu-like symptoms, she said, and another three in San Luis Potosi in central Mexico. There are around 800 suspected cases, she said.

U.S. Government is USING THE MEDIA to further THEIR AGENDA! We ARE BEING LIED TO BY U.S. CONGRESS!

March 142010

The media is being used as a tool of the evil U.S. Government’s agenda. They(U.S. Congress) know this is happening. Why does Nancy Pelosi never speak the “truth” about the September 11, 2001 so-called terrorist attacks? Why does U.S. Congressman(Ron Paul. Dennis Kucinich, and ALL Congress/SENATE) never SPEAK TRUTH about 9/11? Why don’t THEY SPEAK the TRUTH about ANYTHING the ILLEGAL PRESIDENT(OBAMA) DOES? Why does the Senate and White House have Youtube channels? Surely THEY know what is on Youtube about the so-called 9/11 terrorist attacks. Why does ABC NEWS(Diane Sawyer) never WHISPER the TRUTH about 9/11? How about Glenn Beck? Bill Oreilly? How about Public Television or Radio? I used to have a Public Television channel in Portland, Oregon. I was talking not only about 9/11 but about the illegal wars, chemtrails, poisons in our food. Do you know what was said about me? I was called “CRAZY” by my peers. I will say this again all media including public TV has been bought off. Public TV is funded by the Federal Government. The employees are paid by the Federal Government so of course they are going to only allow what is told to them. IF you do go against the grain and put the “truth” on TV you will be censored by being put on late night or called “crazy”.

Nancy Pelosi’s Lie

February 142010

Nancy Pelosi wants to have a “truth commission” in order to prosecute members of CIA and the previous administration for lying however it is Nancy Pelosi who is lying. It is illegal for the CIA to lie to Congress however it is not illegal for Congress to lie to the public who by the way Congress works for. If everyone wants change then that is what needs to change.

Congress Works to Block EPA Carbon Rules

January 222010

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE5BH05M20091218?type=politicsNews
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Republican lawmakers said on Thursday they would try to block a Environmental Protection Agency proposal that opens the door to federal regulation of planet-warming gases.

Barack Obama | Green Business

Last week, the EPA issued a ruling that greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health, clearing the way for the agency to regulate carbon without congressional legislation.

Senator Lisa Murkowski, the top Republican on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is leading an effort in the chamber to overturn the finding through a rarely used joint resolution of disapproval.

Getting the proposal passed will be a heavy lift, since Republicans are a minority in both the House and Senate. The resolution requires the approval of both chambers and President Barack Obama.

Some Democrats have also expressed concerns about the EPA regulating carbon.

Advancing climate policy through regulation “is not the best tool,” Murkowski told reporters on Thursday at a briefing held by Energy Daily. “In fact, most would say it is the worst tool we could be using.”

Murkowski and other critics of the EPA’s finding say it would cause substantial damage to the economy by burdening businesses with additional costs.

Murkowski’s resolution has picked up support from other Republicans in the Senate and a similar effort is being taken up by Republicans in the House.

“We’re not going to allow the executive branch, through the Environmental Protection Agency … to appropriate to themselves the power to make laws that govern the people of the United States without the United States Congress acting in this area as well,” Republican Senator Jon Kyl said at the briefing.

Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer, head of the Senate Environment and Public Works committee, decried the plan to block the endangerment finding.

Texas Republican slams Bush “demented philosophy of conquest

December 152009

Full story at http://www.thebluestate.com/2007/02/video_texas_rep.html

Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) stood his ground and joined the twenty-or-so other Republicans that have decided to vote with the House Democrats in favor of a non-binding Iraq resolution that condemns President Bush’s troop surge.

Speaking of Bush, Congressman Paul was very straight-forward in his displeasure for Bush’s “demented philosophy of conquest.” Here is a portion of his floor speech:

RON PAUL: “In recent decades, our policies have been driven by neoconservative empire radicalism; profiteering in the military industrial complex; misplaced do-good internationalism; mercantilistic notions regarding the need to control natural resources; and blind loyalty to various governments in the Middle East.”

You can add Ron Paul’s name to the small list of the few level-headed Republicans left in Congress.
