In Ohio’s primary election in the 10th Congressional District last week, 10,000 registered Republicans switched their party affiliation on election day and became “Democrats for a Day” — allowing them to try to unseat the one Congressman who has been a national leader on every issue that reflects the core values of real Democrats: Rep. Dennis Kucinich.
10,000 Republicans in one Congressional District! In a race where his opposition was supported by Republican media, Republican contributors, Republican advisors, and a Republican political agenda.
In a special video message from Dennis, he explains what happened, why, and how you can help to meet the challenge that will surely be mounted again to put that seat in the Republican “win column” in November.

During a floor statement on July 22, Congressman Joe Courtney again called on Members of Congress who accept taxpayer subsidized health care while opposing reform to “take a look in the mirror”. The Congressman reminded Members of Congress that the heavily subsidized health care they receive is selected through a public exchange, the same type of exchange proposed in the Americas Affordable Health Choices Act.

A Republican House member shouted “You lie” during President Obama’s health care speech to Congress on Wednesday, and members of both parties condemned the heckling. South Carolina Democratic Party chair says Wilson “embarrassed” state. The outburst came when Obama denied that proposed health care legislation would provide free health coverage for illegal immigrants. Immediately, Wilson shouted, “You lie!” . The outburst caused Obama to stop and look toward the heckler. “That’s not true,” the president responded. Behind him, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared shocked and turned toward the outburst as Vice President Joe Biden looked down and shook his head. Loud boos echoed through the chamber immediately after the outburst.

I do not believe the federal government should be running healthcare in our country and levying massive tax increases on America’s small businesses. However, if this Administration and the majority party are going to force government-run healthcare on the American people, then Members of Congress should be required to enroll in that plan. If the government-run ‘public plan’ is good enough for millions of our constituents, then it should be good enough for Members of Congress.
