Why won’t the Republicans in congress squash this birther nonsense, like the Democrats did for McCain?
March 152010
When the wing nuts on the left tried to question the legitimacy of McCain’s citizenship, it lasted about 10 minutes. Not only did the Democrats in office (including those running against him) act like adults, but also those of us in the grassroots, myself included,
denounced it on every single opportunity.
Everyone claims to want to change the way things are done in Washington, until the Republicans lose an election, then it’s obstruct by any means possible no matter who it hurts.
In fairness, its not all republicans, its just the ones who don’t want a Black president. That is the reasoning behind this BS.
Racism. Plain and simple.
And that, is the difference between Mccain providing Proof and it was all good, But Obama, he provides proof and its not good enough. They want freakin DNA, blood tests, finger prints, lie detectors etc.,
INSANE bigots.

The republicans, on the whole, are a mean bunch and they know spreading lies gets press. They don’t care that they are lying. They encourage it, and then sit back and snicker about it. It does make their people look REALLY, REALLY stupid.

You are asking for honesty, morality, and ethics from Republicans?
Don’t hold your breath.

I think it’s because the Republican party is losing members, and at least until the 2010 elections they want to hold on to as many voters as possible – unfortunately, that means keeping quiet about the radical fringe elements and, in some cases, encouraging it.

The behavior of those going berserk about the "birthers" shows how frightened this makes you. That’s what I’m noticing this week — that the opposition is acting more bizarre than the "birthers".
PJ’s off her rocker. Everyone knows who the "mean" people are. No one will forget the behavior of the crazy left for 8 years.

Because McCain immediately quashed rumors regarding his eligibility right when they surfaced by showing the birth certificate of his being born at a US naval base in Panama (which is American sovereign territory).
Obama, on the other hand, has not. I wonder why that is.

Because they are bitter and grasping at straws… It’s actually quite funny because while they are doing this, all of their sensible party members are moving to the Libertarian party. At this rate, they will never win another election…

Guess you don’t remember the NY Times questioning McCain’s citizenship.
In February, The New York Times published a report calling into question the legality of McCain’s presidential run. McCain was born to American citizens stationed on an American Naval base in the Panama Canal Zone. He has since served in the U.S. Navy, and, since 1983, has served in the U.S. Congress.

Members of Congress in the GOP are hanging by a thread… they can’t really afford to piss off the base while still trying to curry votes from independents. Most are staying silen on this because it is best for their political survival.
I can’t blame them…. the birthers are ridiculous but they are a vocal group of loonies and they have the attention of the lunatic fringe of the media. These senators can’t win and its better for their careers to just be silent.

First off, I would like to point out that many Republicans and conservative pundits have pointed out that the Kenya-Birth rumor is bogus. O’Reilly reported that it was bogus about a year ago.
But there are some major differences between the nature of the rumors. For one thing, no one ever had a reason to doubt where McCain was born. The only people questioning his legitimacy were those unfamiliar with the law. So a simple quoting of the law was all that it took to squash that rumor.
But Obama was born near the time of his mother’s visit to Kenya. So rumors flourished.
Also, it appears at least some of the Hillary supporters were fueling the Kenya Birth rumors. Philip Berg has been the most active pusher of the rumor and he is a Democrat.
Having a democrat as a leader of this rumor served to fuel the fire. There were several Republicans (but still no where near the majority of Republicans) who thought that if a Democrat was pushing this theory then there must be some truth to it.
I would also like to point out that my boyfriend and I know many Republicans and we don’t know a single person who beleives this rumor.

AND WHERE DID HE GET HIS $$$ FROM.
OBAMA PASSPORTS
What passport did he use when he was shuttling between
New York, Jakarta, and Karachi?
So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981,
without the price of a hotel room in his pocket,
suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month
later?
And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and
Karachi,
what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and
Immigration?
Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20?
A : Yes, by his own admission.
Q: What passport did he travel under?
A: There are only three possibilities.
1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport,
2) He traveled with a British passport, or
3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport.
in
1981.
Conclusion:
When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a
British passport or an Indonesian passport.
If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof
that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims.
And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to
prove
that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or
American,
prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967.

Bernie Goldberg has a theory about why there’s been a significant controversy over Lou Dobbs’ promotion of the "Birther" conspiracy theory, which he shared with Bill O’Reilly on B.O.’s TV show recently:
It’s all an evil plot by the Obama White House to string the story along indefinitely so as to make his right-wing opposition look like a nuttier bunch than an Almond Joy. But let Bernie and Bill O’Reilly explain:
*Goldberg: "Well, let’s get the easy part out of the way first. CNN should not, repeat, not fire Lou Dobbs for talking about this. Lou Dobbs didn’t say Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States, he said just the opposite! He said he was born in the United States. But then he said he should produce his birth certificate. Now let’s think about this for a second. Why wouldn’t President Obama release his birth certificate? He was born in Hawaii, Hawaii last I checked is in the United States, and — why in the world wouldn’t he release his birth certificate?"
*O’Reilly: "Can I answer that question?"
*Goldberg: "Well, let me answer it first. OK? Let me just answer my own question first."
*O’Reilly: "OK, you answer it, and then I’ll have the correct answer."
*Goldberg: "I have a theory. And the theory is this: That the Chicago Mafia inside the White House want to keep this crazy controversy going. Because the longer it goes, the better the chance that they will conflate the crazy right-wing fringe with regular conservatives and regular Republicans."
*O’Reilly: "That’s not a bad theory. But from dealing with the Obama White House, now, for almost, more than a year, I will tell you they are, uh, as every White House I’ve ever experienced, they’re arrogant, they’re arrogant. And they’re saying to themselves, ‘We’re not gonna let Lou Dobbs tell us what to do. We’re not gonna let these cranks on talk radio tell us what to do. They want the birth certificate released? Tough. We’re not going to do it, because we have the power, and we don’t like that.’ That’s what it’s all about — it’s a ‘Ha ha, we’re not gonna do what you say’."
Interesting theories, gentlemen. Unfortunately, they both tend to run aground on a simple fact: Obama actually released his birth certificate in June 2008. It reads, "Certification of Live Birth."
Now, as FactCheck.org’s definitive piece on the certificate issue explains, this is in fact the "short form" of Obama’s birth certificate, not its long form, which is filled out by the hospital and kept in its records. So why doesn’t Obama release the long form? Because Hawaiian law doesn’t give him that option:
The document is a "certification of birth," also known as a short-form birth certificate. The long form is drawn up by the hospital and includes additional information such as birth weight and parents’ hometowns. The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. The Hawaii Department of Health’s birth record request form does not give the option to request a photocopy of your long-form birth certificate, but their short form has enough information to be acceptable to the State Department. We tried to ask the Hawaii DOH why they only offer the short form, among other questions, but they have not given a response.
Now, if Goldberg and O’Reilly are so concerned that the public might conclude that mainstream conservatives are prone to far-right conspiracy theories and various other forms of wingnuttery, they might look in the mirror. It’s the virtual definition of wingnuttery to even be asking why Obama won’t release his birth certificate when he has in fact done so.
There’s no Obama conspiracy keeping this garbage alive and tying it around the necks of mainstream conservatives. They’re doing a very fine job of that themselves.
Can you see that they are hanging themselves with their spider web of conspiracy?
Parse the word conspiracy: “con’s piracy.“
The neocons have hijacked a Boat To Nowhere.
And it’s sinking faster than the Titanic.
‘Nuff said.
