How can we afford Obama’s Public Option?

April 302010

Let’s look at the MOST recent budget outcome – the Bush budget of 2008.

http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/100xx/doc10014/March2009_HistoricalTables.pdf

So take a look at that.

Obama and congress have added more than a TRILLION in spending to the Bush budget of 2009 – leaving us with a MASSIVE deficit of $1.86 Trillion… Something the Bush budget would never have given us… (I had to point that out, several idiots point to Obama’s own deficit as Bush’s fault. I hope you people know Obama and congress CAN add spending to the current budget…)

***Let’s get to the point here…***

So first let’s start off with the fact that 45 million Americans out of 300 million are not insured by any company. That’s 15% of the population that’s goes without insurance. So let’s get this straight. We’re getting ready to pay for a $630 Billion dollar health care reform bill, just to cover 15% of the population. $630 Billion per year is more than what we spend per year on our Military/Defense Budget. Even if we cut Military/Defense spending by 50%, we won’t be able to afford this. This cost doesn’t even cover the fact, that like Medicare and Social Security, this cost will increase each year to cover a growing population. Like Medicare and Social Security, this will continue to grow in cost FOREVER unless the program ends. Not to mention the fact that we’re already in massive debt, 47% of our debt is in China’s hands, and that Obama is giving our nation a $1.86 TRILLION dollar DEFICIT (according to the CBO).

Is this really sustainable?

Source:
Just do some research at the damn CBO…

SUMMARY:

Cost PER YEAR of Public Option = $630 Billion (lowest estimate)

Obama Deficit = $1.86 TRILLION (Bush deficit of 2008 is $454.8 Billion.)

47% of our debt = Under China’s hands

Military/Defense Spending = $612.4 Billion PER YEAR.

HOW CAN WE AFFORD OBAMA CARE IF WE CAN’T EVEN AFFORD WHAT WE’RE DOING NOW?
PS: don’t give me benefits of the Public Plan — what’s the point if you can’t afford it?
FILE works fine… update your damn Acrobat reader…
POTATO…. No there is no flaw… We can’t afford it and the regulations that keep the companies within state borders are the VERY reason for little competition and high prices… NEXT…

I’m in total agreement, with one exception. The 45 million people has been broken down with the result that there are actually only about 10 million who are uninsured.

I can’t remember the exact percentages, but when you take away the number of people who can afford insurance, but choose not to get it, the numbers drop dramatically.

Then there are those who are qualified for medicare but for whatever reasons have not filled out the forms.

Then you get to subtract the 12-20 million who are illegal immigrants.

Leaves you with about 10 million, and it is definitely not worth wrecking our health system and increasing our national debt to such astronomical amounts.

We can’t… but Mr Obama doesn’t want you tell anyone!! He says that you are spreading FALSE information if you do… you are a racist unlike Van Jones and his racist slants…. & part of an "angry mob" instead of a concerned citizen!! Remember, if a blue sky does not fit into Mr Obama’s Agenda… he will change it to a Green Sky by Presidential Decree. And if you do not like it, he will label you a racist!!

You have some flaws with your numbers.
Besides that, you are already spending more in taxes on subsidizing your private health insurance providers than a totally public sysem would cost.
You would actually save money be making health care free and universal as long as you removed private insurance companies from it. Not only would you get better health care, you would pay at least 10% lower taxes for it than you do now.

Maybe if we took all the monies the congress has stolen from Socialist Security and they have spent on pork projects, maybe, we could afford a couple of weeks. Maybe.

Excellent point. Common sense says we are bankrupt. Our politicians know this. I wonder what motivates them to support more spending. The budget deficit is much higher than the number you used. The CBO are operating on a first year business student sort of level. Also, look into the number of uninsured more closely. It is much smaller than your number.

Thank you for your sensible and cogent argument.

Well he said that cuts will be made so that it’s "deficit neutral."

If anyone thinks that will be done. I have swamp land for sale in Arizona.

Here’s a little tidbit that is over looked. It will cost an initial $2Trillion just to start this little hole digger up.

    first off, I don’t think it’s 630 billion a year… last time I checked at least…

but to get to the point…

well… we would probably get revenue from other places…

like a raise in taxes and some caps on costs…

in short, my taxes would go up, but I wouldn’t have to pay high prices for insurance anymore… and odds are, I would save money in the end…

the other point is… Medicare and Medicaid are toast… we can not keep going with them…

do Republicans want to be left holding the bag when they go bust?

and do you think that tort reform and interstate sales will cut enough to make medicare and medicaid affordable?

    We can’t afford ObamaCare.

    We can’t afford Obammunism.

We can’t afford the Obama/Pelosi/Reid political machine.

It’s not about health care. It’s about

    1. The Obammunist Dumocrats buying the votes of millions of uninsured voters with government health insurance paid for by tax dollars from you and me, and

    2. The incremental shift of the health care industry, one-seventh of the US economy, and the health care choices of EVERY PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES, over to the direct control of an Obammunist-run government.

Think of the power in the hands of an Obammunist Dumocrat-run government when they own the entire US health care industry and control the health care of EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES.

    Think of it.

Rather than argue with you, I will simply ask a simple question…what would have happened if we decided not to combat the Great Depression? Or if we decided World War 2 was just "too expensive" to get involved in? Most of the great things we have achieved as a nation were done without a ledger book, or ready cash…including the American Revolution that freed us from England.

Which one of those do you wish we hadn’t done?

I have private health insurance. It costs nearly as much as my mortgage…and I get many times more denials than treatment.

The existing system is awful, bleeding us dry, and giving less coverage each year. Or did you miss the bit about the private insurers quietly increasing the portion of the standard deductible from 20 percent to 35 percent? Providers are now insisting on that money UP FRONT…so you better have cash when you sign in for that same day procedure…or you aren’t getting treated.

The answer isn’t to DO NOTHING…and hope that they will suddenly change.

Wow you got some hosses in your corner, stupid, 2 thumbs, fakename and a few other really know what is going on and what to do.

You got to laugh at the "they will pay" or "they will take from another area" and rob Peter to pay Paul. That is it.

Yo are on target about the cost, but for the others remember that the last time that this happened was with the prescription drug plan that they dumped on Medicare. Also the cost by their t"ten year cost analysis" was to be $540 billion, after passing if was then increased to $104 billion and now in the $240 range.

So multiply any number by 4 or 5, but the drug number they knew as they got the information from the insurance companies and shared it. this deal is new ground.

If they really want to help the people with affordable insurance, then why not do as one said and just do that. Have people who want it register at the county health department.

I find it interesting that one of their big points is to save lifes, but this bill will not start if then till 2013! there is no way, but even if they don’t pas it they still are half way on cap and trade destroying what industry we have left.

almost forgot the insurance companies lobbyists increased the donations to the House and Senate, but the health care sector has gone nuts and donated about half a BILLION bucks to the House and Senate, which tells me they too will be well taken care of.

If these clowns really wanted to make it work they would start with the ones that need it, study Medicare to get it in budget and hire me as a czar of something.

Full view of obamacare bill go to http://thomas.loc.gov, it’s 1,08 pages, 2,541 sections that are driven by about 100,000 pages of rules and regulations, have fun.

You can also go to AlbertsAmerica.wordpress.com to see the actual stats on it.

Anyway just wanted to crow about this thing and leave no stone unturned, sorry about being so wordy. Ha, ha.
