How does Congress and the American public relate to foreign and defense policy?

November 262011

The membership of NATO and the UN runs through congress and Mrs C has got the job of looking after that with her minimums. The head of State the President is the Big Ambassador the rest of the world though. Details are below.

Do you agree Alexis de Tocqueville about Congress bribing the public with the public’s money?

.
"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money." — Alexis de Tocqueville

‘The goal of the liberals as it emerges from the record of the past decades was to smuggle this country into welfare statism by means of single, concrete, specific measures, enlarging the power of the government a step at a time, never permitting these steps to be summed up into principles, never permitting their direction to be identified or the basic issue to be named. Thus, statism was to come, not by vote or by violence, but by slow rot by a long process of evasion and epistemological corruption, leading to a fait accompli.’

Are people who support the Republicans in Congress evil or stupid?

November 192011

How can they blame the President when all the Republicans in Congress do is say " no" and come up only with things that benefit the wealthy and and corporations? And NO, they are not "job creators". Do the really believe that stuff?
I see none of them can actually state that what I say is incorrect.

"all the Republicans in Congress do is say " no" and come up only with things that benefit the wealthy and and corporations? And NO, they are not "job creators".

Slamming is just nonsense.

Both.

There are basically two groups of conservatives. Those who lie for political and financial gain, and those who believe the lies.

Why did Congress refuse to offer a public option for national health care, like other enlightened countries?

November 92011

Congress appears to think "one size fits all". It seems to consider buying health insurance in the private, overpriced corporate market a "solution" for everyone. Very little media focus has been placed on looking at how the current "Affordable Health Care Act" provisions will affect US citizens who do NOT have employer-assisted insurance coverage but are not below the poverty lever or eligible for Medicare/Medicaid. Moreover, the provisions to penalize those who do not purchase private insurance is like debtors prison!

Congress did not want the government to compete with private insurance companies.

The Affordable Health Care Act has an insurance mandate for 2014 that will enable anyone to buy their own policy not tied to employment. That is the purpose of it. You get a tax credit subsidy when you buy the insurance, or a tax liability if you dont. The only way an exchange or pool can work is to draw both sick and healthy people into it. The tax credit is an inducement to buy insurance which everyone needs anyway. There is a hardship and a religious exemption.
